BIOGRAPHY

Tamir Lifshitz is an Israeli guitarist and composer who lives in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Tel Aviv to a musical family, Tamir received a musical education from a young age and began learning classical guitar at the age of 7. Tamir graduated with great honors Thelma Yelin National high school of art which is considered the best art school in Israel.

Tamir is an active musician around the NY Jazz scene and he Is one of the most promising young jazz artists who are starting to make their mark on the jazz scene in New York and around the world.Growing up listening and learning the music of  musicians like: Bud Powell,Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk etc…

Tamir’s compositions and playing combines a strong foundation of the Jazz swing tradition alongside classical music and modern innovative interpretation. Tamir is currently a full scholarship undergraduate student at The New School university and he occasionally performs in different jazz venues around town  such as:

Ornithology Jazz Club, Fiction Bar, The Stone,Bar bayeux,and many others…

Tamir developed his own style of guitar playing combining the wisdom of the classical guitar genre with the electric guitar. His unique guitar virtuosity has a refreshing guitar sound which is influenced by his prescription of the modern world we live in today.

 Tamir has been awarded many scholarships and prizes such as: full undergraduate scholarships from "Berklee College Of Music" and “The New School University”,  excellence scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, “outstanding musician recognition “from the IDF, second place in the international jazz competition in Rostov (Russia) and more…

​

Tamir is a well known jazz musician in his homeland of Israel. He performed in the most prestigious jazz clubs in Israel, such as "Beit Al Hamudim", "Sheblul Jazz Club", "Azor Club", "Lebontin 7" and more... In 2021, Tamir performed with his band at the international Lotus Jazz Festival in Poland alongside  some of the world's most important jazz musicians such as: trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, "The Jazz At Lincoln Center Big Band", Chris Botti and more...
